HBK is looking for a Quality Engineer will provide technical process leadership for the engineering and production teams. Responsibilities include ensuring documentation and floor support associated with safety, manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing Concepts and quality, methods, tooling, and equipment. Aggressively initiate new processes and methods that will improve safety, reduce product cost, and/or improve product quality.

Location: Marlborough, MA

Primary responsibilities 

  • Works well in a collaborative environment that is involved in NPI (New Product Introduction) and the ability to handle multiple projects 
  • Experience writing quality inspections and work instructions
  • Minitab experience for SPC (Statistical Process Control) and DOE (Design of Experiment)
  • Microsoft office experience including Access database, Visio, Microsoft project, Pivot tables, Gantt charts, what-if analysis
  • Continuous improvement experience (auditing is a plus)
  • Training colleagues in safety and quality specifications
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to interact with customers and run review/process meetings
  • Project management 
  • Maintain and improve the established ISO Quality Management System
  • Track and analyze incoming, in-process and finished goods quality data
  • Track, trend and address customer concerns
  • Analyze trends and work with engineering team on continuous improvements
  • Prepare and work directly with customers on PFEMA and Control plans for all new development
  • Participate in design and process release reviews
  • Responsible for PPAP process documentation for new product development
  • Liaison with our China quality group for all customer concerns and corrective actions
  • Assist in problem solving techniques (A3PS)


Professional qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering related field
  • Experience working at a manufacturer with a product development team environment
  • Five or more years’ experience in quality management
  • Attention to detail, self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, multifaceted environment
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills to effectively build relationships with employees and management across functions and locations
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings; and harmonize information with related technical documentation/specifications
  • ISO 9001 subject matter expert, ISO 9001:2015 a big plus
  • Project management experience
  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, SAP experience a big plus and working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • Strong administrative skills: advanced Microsoft office applications experience (able to write or create Word forms, pivot tables, Excel macros, Visio, databases)

  • Proven ability to learn new processes and tools quickly
  • Established self-starter with the ability to drive task completion, resolve questions and concerns, and pro-actively offer improvements to work processes or tools
