Editorial Copywriter

Reporting directly to the Associate Director for Editorial Content, the Copywriter will assist in writing promotional copy for a variety of print and electronic publications for Admissions (undergraduate, graduate, adult learning, and law); Alumni Relations (including alumni magazines); video; the University website; and various event (print and electronic) publications.

Candidates should submit three writing samples with application.

 MARGINAL DUTIES:

Participate in University functions and committee work as appropriate.
Perform other functions as assigned by the Assoc. Director for Editorial Content.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Bachelor’s degree required in English, Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or related field. Minimum two years professional marketing/advertising copywriting experience required. Prior experience in higher education copywriting and knowledge of content management systems preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:

Outstanding research, writing, and interviewing skills; ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities; versatility to write both promotional and technical copy (i.e. science, engineering, law); experience writing for the Web; demonstrated attention to detail and proofreading skills. 

The successful candidate must be able to write compelling copy to connect to varied audiences, from high school students to law alumni, using a variety of communication channels. The position requires the ability to multi-task a high volume of high quality work under tight deadlines, with specific attention to grammar, tone, and factual accuracy.
