Our civilian engineers solve highly complex problems and take part in a variety of projects to promote national security through nuclear deterrence. They decide what needs to be done, make sure it happens, and solve the most complex, high-risk aspects of the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program - America’s Nuclear Triad.
Multiple positions are expected to be filled from this announcement, most likely in occupational series 830 Mechanical Engineer, 855 Electrical/Electronics Engineer, 801 General (Systems, Aerospace, etc.) Engineer, 1550 Computer Scientist and 1301 Physical Scientist.

RANGE OF DUTIES (Not All-Inclusive):
- Provides technical skills and leadership in planning, analyzing, and evaluating efforts used to define weapon system/subsystem requirements; translates requirements into design criteria; evaluates alternative design approaches; and develops system specifications.
- Develops system performance requirements, objectives and integration, and estimates time and resources needed for system design, development, and support.
- Uses technical understanding of test and evaluation engineering principals.
- Evaluates alternative design approaches and proposals and presents conclusions and recommendations.
- Ensures assigned projects remain consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies.
- Applies appropriate software development and production methodologies, to include cutting-edge initiatives, to organize the workforce for efficient, responsive, and timely support to program and warfighter.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Not All-Inclusive):
- U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- Employee is required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; new hire must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- To qualify as an engineer, employee must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0800/files/all-professional-engineering-positions-0800.pdf
- Computer Scientist candidates must have a bachelor's or higher degree in computer science or a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
- A minimum of 30 months of Post-Bachelor’s degree engineering experience in one of the following disciplines:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- General Engineering (Systems, Aerospace etc.)
- Computer Scientist
- Physical Scientist
