Job Title: Pelvic Floor Therapist, Doctor of Physical Therapy
Department: Outpatient Physical Therapy
Location: 3765 E Blue Lupine Dr. Ste E Wasilla, Alaska
Schedule: Part-time or full-time, negotiable
Salary: Starting $90,000/annually, based on experience
Empower Physical Therapy is a privately-owned outpatient orthopedic clinic. We provide the highest level of quality care for all outpatient needs. Including rehab following sports and orthopedic injuries, chronic pain, regenerative medicine, concussion management, post-surgical, Pelvic health, performance training, and much more!
We are looking for a compassionate and energetic pelvic health therapist to join our team! Our ideal candidate has completed beginner and intermediate coursework in prenatal/postnatal and pelvic floor/pain assessment and treatment, is excellent at determining patients' needs, and possesses extraordinary communication skills to motivate patients in achieving their goals. 1+ years of experience with pelvic health and 2+ years of experience with general outpatient orthopedics is highly preferred (time may overlap). The therapist must be flexible between working both with pelvic health and our outpatient clinic patients. Our program covers prenatal, postnatal, pelvic and orthopedic conditions. We are passionate about helping women to have pain free, fit pregnancies, strong recoveries after birth, and smooth return to all their fitness and lifestyle activities.
The ideal candidate will have experience treating both male and female patients with a variety of pelvic floor dysfunctions, including:
- Urinary incontinence (UI)
- Fecal incontinence (FI)
- Pelvic organ prolapse (POP)
- Painful bladder syndrome (PBS)
- Interstitial cystitis (IC)
- Dyspareunia
- Pudendal neuralgia
- Constipation
- Erectile dysfunction
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pelvic floor evaluations and assessments
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include manual therapy, biofeedback, electrical stimulation, and other pelvic floor exercises
- Educate patients on pelvic floor health and self-management
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and OB/GYN
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy program (Required)
- Current license to practice physical therapy in Alaska (Preferred)
- Experience treating pelvic floor dysfunctions (Preferred)
- Beginner and intermediate coursework in prenatal/postnatal and pelvic floor (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to receive ongoing training in pelvic floor manual therapy
Experience:
- Outpatient: 2 year (Preferred)
- Pelvic Health: 2 year (Preferred). Willing to negotiate additional training into CME allowance.
- Male and Female pelvic health (Preferred)

Here are some of the manual therapy styles that may be used to treat pelvic floor dysfunctions:
- Myofascial release: This technique involves using gentle pressure to release tension in the muscles and fascia of the pelvic floor.
- Trigger point therapy: This technique involves applying pressure to specific points in the muscles of the pelvic floor that are causing pain.
- Pelvic floor massage: This technique involves massaging the muscles of the pelvic floor to improve their tone and function.
- Biofeedback: This technique uses sensors to measure the activity of the pelvic floor muscles. This information is then displayed to the patient so that they can learn to control their muscles more effectively.
- Electrical stimulation: This technique uses electrical pulses to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles. This can help to improve muscle tone and function.
