Firefly Energy is an innovative early stage advanced battery technology company that has developed and patented technology for the next generation of lead-acid batteries, bringing this proven, cost effective and reliable chemistry into the 21st century by:
- Removing up to 70% of the lead
- Delivering performance similar to advanced material (NiMH and Lithium) batteries
- Producing near the cost of lead-acid batteries (1/6th of advanced material batteries)
- Integrating into well established lead-acid battery manufacturing processes and recycling
This graphite lead-acid technology’s price and performance capability represents a significant breakthrough for most all of the existing lead-acid battery markets and some of the emerging advanced material battery markets ($30b). The product technology also presents a potential new standard for lead-acid batteries by supporting a much cleaner environment with the dramatic reduction in lead content.
Firefly Energy’s battery technology has been researched and tested for over four years after having been discovered by Caterpillar, Inc. as part of their $700 million technology research operations in early 2002. Financially backed by both private equity and Fortune 500 strategic investors like Caterpillar, BAE Systems, and Husqvarna, Firefly Energy has perfected these technologies, acquired initial customers, and is currently implementing pilot manufacturing.
