We maintain our core expertise in crushing, screening, grinding, conveying, separation, enrichment, and recycling through a comprehensive research and development program that incorporates true lifecycle thinking from product design onwards.
Worldwide presence
The company has 38 manufacturing plants, and 128 sales and service units in 45 countries. Including authorized distributors and agents this gives us a local presence in over 100 countries worldwide.
Organization and customers
Metso Minerals introduced a new corporate structure in January 2007. Replacing the previous focus on product segments, this is based on three customer-driven business lines:
Construction
Mining and
Recycling
The Construction business line serves quarries and project-based crushing and screening operations providing services to aggregates and construction industries, contractors processing rock or soil for the construction and civil engineering industries, and engineering and consulting companies.
The Mining business line provides services to mining and industrial minerals companies extracting, processing and transporting ores and minerals, as well as to mining contractors, and engineering and consulting companies.
The Recycling business line mainly serves the metal recycling industry including ferrous scrap operations, automotive industry, aluminium industry and foundries.
Each business line channels its sales through geographical market areas.
Corporate background
Headquartered in Helsinki in Finland, Metso Minerals has annual net sales of over 2.6 billion (2007). Personnel number is approximately 10,500. The company is lead by Matti Kähkönen, President of Metso Minerals.
Metso Minerals forms part of Metso Corporation – a €6 billion-a-year group (2007) listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange – that also includes Metso Paper and Metso Automation. Metso Minerals accounts for approximately 41% of Metso’s consolidated net sales.
Company History
Metso Minerals has roots in the second half of the 19th century. Many of the founding stories are tales about young engineers or groups of scientists that had the courage to start something new. They experimented on different machine components, tested solutions and came up with a new business concept or patent.
Over the years the original inventions and operations have changed shape or even vanished, but they have also carved their mark into the soil of our industry. Being aware of the risk-takings and successes of our predecessors builds a part of our identity as Metso Minerals.
Many of our customers share our history. It's also good to remember that we may thank our innovative customers for many of the success stories.
