UEC serves the aerospace, military, industrial, and commercial markets with comprehensive product design, system integration, and vertically integrated manufacturing solutions including: hardware, software, and mechanical engineering; rapid prototyping; and a broad range of product assembly and test. Our product mix includes electronic controls, power distribution, vehicle integration, automated systems, circuit card assembly, cable assembly and complex electromechanical devices.
Our Charleston campus encompasses over 80,000 square feet of engineering, integration, production, and testing facilities, where we are fortunate to offer challenging work, a diverse array of projects and customers, strong and stable growth, and a wonderful seaside community. UEC steadily develops and expands in both size and capabilities, resulting in our continuous pursuit of talented and motivated individuals of to join our diverse and highly skilled team.
Company History
Established in 1995, UEC Electronics is a woman-owned, SDB, 8(a), certified small business offering comprehensive solutions in engineering design, product development, rapid prototyping and lean, innovative manufacturing services. Our Charleston campus encompasses over 80,000 square feet of engineering, integration, production, and testing facilities.
UEC is ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 certified. We are a graduate of the Navy’s MTAPP (Manufacturing Technical Assistance Production Program)—The Next Generation and the DSTARR (Defense Small Business Technology Readiness Resource) Program. We are currently participating in the DoD Mentor-Protégé program with Raytheon Company, with a significant focus on technology transfer and continuous quality improvements.
UEC has been the recipient of many distinguished awards, with the most recent being the 2010 South Carolina SBA Small Business of the Year and first runner up at the National level.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
2010 – National Award Recipient, Small Business Person of the Year
June 2010 - Rebecca Ufkes traveled to Washington DC and was awarded first Runner Up National Small Business Person of the Year. She was invited to the White House's Rose Garden to hear President Obama speak about Small Business and participated at the National Awards ceremony with all other State Nominated Participants.
2010 – South Carolina’s Small Business Person of the Year
May 2010 Rebecca Ufkes traveled to Columbia, SC and was awarded Small Business Person of the Year for the State of South Carolina. The nomination was made by the Small Business office for the positive economic impact UEC has made on the South Carolina economy prior to and during the recession, as well as the significant positive impact UEC has had on other small businesses, large businesses and government agencies in the state.

2008 – DoD Mentor-Protégé Program Acceptance through Naval Aviation (NAVAIR) Patuxent River, MD
NAVAIR approves the Raytheon Company and UEC Electronics in the Department of Defense (DoD) Mentor-Protégé Program. The Raytheon Company was selected by NAVAIR to mentor UEC Electronics developing their existing capabilities to be a better supplier to DoD. To date Raytheon mentorship has assisted in the migration from ISO9001 Quality Management System to AS9100, the incorporation of a J-STD-001 Class 3 Surface Mount Line, CMMI certification efforts as well employee development efforts for the UEC Electronics management staff.
2008 – Small Business Award of Excellence
SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic’s Small Business Subcontractor of the Year, for work performed with Stanley Associates. UEC manufactured five key cables for the intercommunications suite on the MRAP.
2007 – SB Award of Excellence
SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic’s Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year, for work performed designing and manufacturing a Power Distribution Unit for the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicle.
2006 – The Navy’s first Graduate of the Next Generation Manufacturing Technical Assistance Production
